Orton-Gillingham Level 2: Certified Level Coursework and Practicum
The two-year program of Orton-Gillingham Certified Level coursework and practicum provides teachers with the opportunity to advance their knowledge of Orton-Gillingham and apply the theory of O-G instruction and diagnostic-prescriptive teaching to both beginning level and more advanced students. The 100 hours of additional coursework, including content related to the brain, assessment, morphology, grammar, comprehension, and working with complex learners will be presented through evening and weekend seminars and may include lectures by guest speakers. The practicum experience requires a minimum two-year commitment, during which the teacher will receive 10 formal observations and continued guidance from a Fellow. When the practicum and coursework are completed, participants will have met the requirements of the Orton-Gillingham Academy at the Certified Level of membership. The instructors are Fellows of the OGA.
Prerequisite: Participant must be a member of the Orton-Gillingham Academy at the Associate Level or have submitted his or her Associate Level application by the time of enrollment. Participant must have ability to work with an advanced level student who will work at the level of morphology and advanced suffix rules. Starting a New Cohort in Fall 2023.
Fees: $2,500.00 per year
150 PDPs per year
Optional 3 graduate credits per year through Fitchburg State University (additional $295 per year).
